Pennsburg Borough Community Day 9/9 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Perkiomen School will participate in the Pennsburg Community Day. We will have a table and share information about our wonderful school. This is a great opportunity for our school to start to build connections with the community. Community Day is all day Saturday, September 9 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Please join us for a fun filled day on Main Street! There will be live music, an antique car show, crafters, vendors, great food, and much more! You can just come for one hour and show your PERKiomen pride.

Student Debate: Monuments & Symbols 9/19 at 6:30 p.m.
The Global Diversity Council’s Kindness Committee which focuses on equity and social justice is hosting a student debate in the Chapel on Tuesday, September 19th starting at 6:30pm. The topic of the debate is: Should the United States remove historically divisive statues and monuments, and outlaw racially charged symbols? We are seeking students interested in participating in this debate. Debate preparation sessions will be coached by Mr. Irven and Mr. Smith. Debate participants must be willing to focus on the facts to support their position (for or against). If you are interested in participating in the debate, please contact Sierra Smith or Dr. Johnson (Office of Diversity & Inclusion). A signup sheet is posted in the Office of Global Diversity & Inclusion. Students, faculty, and staff are highly encouraged to attend the debate. Thank you.

Language and Cultural Exchange Program
The Global Diversity Council is hosting a language and cultural exchange program. Bilingual / International students interested in sharing their language and culture with domestic monolingual students and even the greater Perkiomen community, may sign up with Mrs. Wang or Dr. Johnson (Office of Global Diversity & Inclusion). You may also signup online via the following link: Language and Cultural Exchange Program The time expectation will be once a week for an hour. The dates and times are flexible as you may arrange a mutual time that is best for you and your partner or small group. The benefits of the language and cultural exchange are:

    • Greater community connections and collaboration with Perkiomen School students.
    • Exposure to different a language and culture.
    • Perkiomen international students build relationships (host family?), ESL practice, and teaching & leadership skills.
    • Volunteer opportunity for Perkiomen students.
* Perkiomen community participants have the opportunity to learn a new language and gain cultural exposure that they may not otherwise experience in the Perkiomen small town life.

World Peace Yoga & Meditation
The Global Diversity Council is partnering with the YMCA to host “World Peace Yoga”. This is a biweekly yoga meditation program. Practice will be on Thursdays at Perkiomen School gym from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. and on Sundays at the YMCA (time TBD). The meditations will focus on living a life of purposeful peace, empathy, respect, and kindness (P.E.R.K.). This yoga practice will benefit you by improving your physical strength & flexibility, and mental health (positivity, self love, stress, and anxiety relief).

Kindness Matters Program with The Open Link
Kindness Matters Program offers students, faculty, and staff to participate in several volunteer opportunities throughout the school year. Please click on the link below to sign up to volunteer and track your hours. Volunteer opportunities include but are not limited to the following: Food Pantry (collection, organization, distribution), Community Day, Intergenerational Connections (lunch & learns, games, & entertainment), Gardening, Adopt a Family, Holiday Programs, Donations (books, personal items, and school supplies). PERKiomen Promise Program with the YMCA
Perkiomen School and the Upper Perkiomen Valley YMCA are partnering to make an impact in the greater community by offering the following programs: World Peace Yoga Meditation, Multicultural Book Club, Cross cultural language & culture exchange, Multicultural Celebration & EXPO. Hispanic Heritage Celebration
Hispanic Heritage Celebration at Perkiomen School will be on Sunday, October 1 from noon until 2 p.m. Students, faculty, and staff will enjoy cultural cuisine (representing various Latino/Hispanic countries), student entertainment and fun activities. For more information they may contact Mr. Lopez or Dr. Johnson.
