Perkiomen Summer offers exciting courses designed to challenge and engage young people throughout the summer months. Participants engage in a variety of academic, creative, and athletic activities allowing students to balance a variety of interests. Campers may study theater while simultaneously practicing critical thinking skills; all the while preparing them for the rigors of the upcoming academic year. The experience of Perkiomen Summer not only promotes academic improvement, but also provides the lasting impression of a memorable summer.
ESL@PERK, our English as a Second Language program (ESL), offers an interdisciplinary approach to learning the English language to students from all over the world. With a focus on the individual goals of each student, ESL@PERK provides exercise of both spoken and written English through daily classes. In addition to instruction on the standard English language, students will experience American culture through a variety of extra-curricular activities. The instruction at ESL@PERK is delivered entirely in English, providing students with an intensive, immersive experience while offering requisite support.
Curricular highlights include courses focused on a variety of levels and disciplines, including but not limited to: math, science, American literature, and American history. The objective of these courses is to provide a solid foundation of content specific language, essential for success in English speaking classrooms. In addition, ESL@PERK provides coursework focused on standardized test preparation, specifically the TOEFL and SAT.
Extra-curricular activities at ESL@PERK provide several enrichment opportunities including athletic competitions, as well as many forms of creative expression. Off-campus trips to New York City, Washington DC, Philadelphia, as well as other locations offer students with experiential learning opportunities designed to enrich the ESL@PERK curriculum and maximize students’ understanding.

English Literature and Composition
This two-week intensive literature and composition seminar is designed to give 9th through 12th grade students additional practice with the demands and expectations of a typical mainstream upper school English class. Targeted student profiles include advanced second language learners, students with reading and writing learning differences, and rising 9th grade students of all levels. This class will use selected short stories and/or a short novel based on the themes of home and identity. Students will engage in discussion-based analysis activities and various writing projects to help build academic English proficiency. All group activities and individual assignments will be assessed using leveled rubrics to provide students with authentic feedback as it relates to a typical mainstream upper school English class.

The American Experience
The American Experience is designed to provide students with a learning experience focused on American history and American culture using the classroom and surrounding historic region. Capitalizing on PERK’s proximity to Philadelphia, the cradle of American history, students will be provided with opportunities to visit various landmarks such as Valley Forge National Park, National Constitution Center, the Liberty Bell, and Independence Hall. During The American Experience, daily classroom and extra-curricular activities are designed to encourage students to think critically and analytically about American culture, while fostering leadership skills and reinforcing both team and individual problem-solving strategies.

At Perkiomen’s Theater Camp, actors of all experience levels and ages work together to put on a full-scale musical in just one week. Student-actors will move through an open group audition on day one, to a week of rehearsals and workshops. You will practice line memorization, choreography, and the exploration of creativity and communication, all leading up to curtain call. Perkiomen Theater fosters the right kind of environment where you’ll feel more comfortable on and off the stage, all while making friends for life.

Sleep under the stars and hike the rugged woods of New Hampshire with the Perkiomen backpacking trip to the White Mountains. The office of college counseling is hosting a college trip to Boston this summer. Students will get a head start by touring some of the great colleges in the Boston area. They will also get to sightsee, and enjoy the city.

Hang Time Hoops Basketball Camp
Hang Time Hoops Camps are day camps designed to teach and instill fundamentals of the game of basketball through stations, individual improvement drills, team practices, contests, lectures, and games. These camps are perfect for players of all ability levels from those just learning the game to serious students of the game; campers will be divided on the basis of age, gender, and ability. The camp will be run by Perkiomen School's Head Boys Basketball Coach and former professional player, Thomas Baudinet, and will be staffed by current or former high school, college, and professional players and coaches.

Dutch Total Soccer
The DTS Overnight Soccer Camps offer an intensive full-day training program, combined with teambuilding activities in an overnight camp experience. DTS Overnight Camps are run by our professional DTS Training staff, together with supporting chaperones and medical staff. The camp is open to male & female players ages 9-16 years old.

Strength and Conditioning
For student-athletes, summer is the ideal time to work on your strength, power, and speed. Perkiomen offers a strength and conditioning program designed by Conditioning Specialists from Panther Performance Academy. This four-week program will include a personal injury prevention assessment to assess strengths and weaknesses and a performance test specific to your sport. Athletes of all sports and fitness levels are welcome. Morning workout sessions with personally tailored workouts are the perfect way to start the day.

New York Fencing
Our camps are ideal for fencers ages 10 and up with at least one year of experience. We will focus on intermediate and advanced competition training led by world-class coaches including NYFA’s Misha Mokretsov and Slava Zingerman, Vivo’s Arpad Horvath, and Medeo’s Yakov Danilenko. Among their students are World cup champions, National team members, NCAA college athletes, and many of today’s best youth fencers. NYFA student and Junior European Champion, Romain Cannone, will participate, along with other top-ranked fencers who will be on staff to assist. USFA-sanctioned tournaments will put campers’ skills to the test. Competitive fencers from all clubs are encouraged to join us and help make these summer epee camps the best in the country!

Perkiomen is partnering with Penn State University to bring an unmatched experience to up and coming entrepreneurs. Campers will have full days with experienced entrepreneurs, and top faculty from Penn State Lehigh Valley, and Perkiomen School. They will learn manufacturing, marketing, presentation skills, and be inspired to develop their ideas into a viable product, service, or company. Learning is hands-on!
Dual Enrollment Opportunity
Students enrolled in the Entrepreneur Camp have the opportunity to receive 3 college credits through a dual-enrollment option.
