An important component of each Upper School student’s education is accomplished through fulfillment of the Community Service Learning requirements. This aspect of Perkiomen’s program provides opportunities beyond the traditional, academic classroom experience. Each student is required to complete six hours of community service each year. Three of the six hours are completed on campus or in the local or greater community. The remainder of the hours are completed in the community, or may be completed during breaks, either in the student’s community or through service trips with proper documentation.
Special consideration will be given to student service projects that exceed the six hours per year requirement. Questions concerning long-term projects should be directed to Paige Longstreth at plongstreth@perkiomen.org.
Community Service Learning requirements are accounted for and maintained through the Community Service Program and the Advisory Program, and count each year on a pass/fail basis; students must pass to move on to the next grade level.
Seniors who have completed the 24-hour requirement by the first month of school are exempt from completing the six hour per year requirement.
