The Perkiomen School is a coeducational college preparatory boarding and day school located in the Greater Philadelphia area; serving grades six through twelve and offers a year of postgraduate study. 

 

DIRECTOR OF THE LEARNING CENTER: Perkiomen School seeks an academic administrator to run the school’s Learning Center. This program moves student with learning issues, skills gaps, executive function issues, and anxiety disorders through the process of gaining coping skills, remediating weak areas, and learning self-advocacy skills. The program enrolls students who have been formally identified as needing academic support.

The School is looking for an energetic and organized director who will guide students and department faculty members. The director is responsible for creating academic plans including accommodations and modification plans for each student. The director is the driving force in weekly feedback to students, parents, and teachers. The director should be proficient not only in the pedagogy of special education but also in data analysis of students, their progress, and their college readiness. This would include a good understanding of standardized assessments, the creation of academic plans, and the ability to provide feedback both formally and informally. The director is responsible for tracking and applying for standardized testing accommodations for all learning disabled students.

This director reports to the Assistant Headmaster for Academic Affairs and holds a seat on the Department Chairs Committee. Candidates should have at least five years of experience and hold an advanced degree in Special Education or its equivalent. The position is residential which includes housing and residential duties. Well qualified applicants would be able to lead activities outside of the classroom such as coaching, or running an afterschool activity.

DIRECTOR OF ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE: Perkiomen School seeks an academic administrator to run the school’s English as a Second Language (ESL) program. The program enrolls 50 students who are predominantly from the Pacific Rim. Students from 30 nations are enrolled at Perkiomen; however, the majority of ESL students are Chinese.

The School is looking for an energetic director who will hold students and department faculty members to high academic standards. The director should be proficient not only in the pedagogy of second language learners but also in data analysis of students, their progress, and their college readiness. This would include a good understanding of standardized assessments, the creation of academic plans, and the ability to provide feedback both formally and informally.

This director reports to the Assistant Headmaster for Academic Affairs and holds a seat on the Department Chairs Committee. Candidates should have at least five years of experience and hold an advanced degree in TESOL or its equivalent. Candidates who are fluent in other languages, particularly, Mandarin are of special interest. The director would teach one academic section of ESL. The position is residential which includes housing and residential duties. Well qualified applicants would be able to lead activities outside of the classroom such as coaching, or running an afterschool activity.

DIRECTOR OF GLOBAL DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION: Historically, Perkiomen School has been a multi-cultural community from the earliest years. The first international student enrolled in 1896 from Korea. Students from many nations, races, and faiths have always been the rich fabric that makes Perkiomen a vibrant school.

Today, the school seeks a senior administrator to lead the diversity and multi-cultural programs. This position is a direct report to the Headmaster. The Director of Global Diversity and Inclusion will be responsible for both faculty and staff programming and student programming. The new Director will be charged with honoring the school's current programming including the Mid-Atlantic Regional Diversity Summit, People of Color Conference, Student Diversity Leadership Council, student leadership development, Black History Month, Social Justice Week, Day of Silence, Lunar New Year Celebration, and visiting speakers. Further, the Director will be responsible for identifying learning opportunities both on and off campus that work to improve equity and inclusion at Perkiomen such as events at local universities, conferences, and real-life experiences. Additionally, the school seeks a leader who will weave the existing programs with new ideas to create a comprehensive program celebrating our diverse global community. Finally, the Director would be expected to support the admissions office to enhance the recruitment of students of color.

Applicants should have earned a master’s degree and have administrative experience with independent school education, not-for-profits, or higher education. The Directorship is an academic position which would include one or two academic classes. Additionally, it is a residential position that includes housing and residential duties. MATH: The Perkiomen School seeks a dynamic, innovative middle and upper school math teacher with the ability to teach classes ranging from Pre-Algebra to AP Calculus. Candidates should have a pedagogical focus on project-based learning, hands-on applications, and student-centered classrooms. As a full-time member of the faculty, coaching, advising, and residential duties are required.

 

MATH CHAIR: The Perkiomen School seeks a Mathematics Department Chair. The Chair is responsible for the oversight of the Mathematics Department including but not limited to interpreting and articulating department philosophy, mentoring department members, preparing and administering department budget, and fostering cooperation with other departments. The Mathematics Chair is a teaching position. Candidates should have the ability to teach classes ranging from Pre-Algebra to AP Calculus. Candidates should have a pedagogical focus on project-based learning, hands-on applications, and student-centered classrooms. As a full-time member of the faculty, coaching, advising, and residential duties are required.

RESIDENT HEAD NURSE: The Perkiomen School is seeking a full-time resident head nurse. The nurse will be responsible for supervising the Health and Wellness Center by serving and administering the school policy and procedures.
