Baseball - Boys Varsity

PERK Baseball had another successful season in 2013. The team finished the season 17-6 and won the league championship for the 19th consecutive season. Six starters of the twelve varsity players graduated from the 2013 squad.  Joseph DeLos Santos is now playing for Eastern University; Esteban Martinez is playing at Rollins College; and Juanki Sierra, a four year starter, is playing golf at Philadelphia University.  The fall season, playing in the Pride of the Diamond league, has given the team an opportunity to incorporate new players into the team philosophy and style of play.  The new players have to make an adjustment to the upbeat approach and speed with which the team plays.  The transition went very smoothly from the fall as we won the Pride of the Diamond championship going undefeated for the second year in a row, going 12-0 and defeating Quakertown High School 11-1 in the championship game.  The pitching staff did a great job giving up only 1.0 runs per game.  They did an excellent job of throwing strikes; something they must continue to do this spring which will be the most ambitious schedule ever, a schedule that will challenge and stretch them as individuals and a team.

The fall season gave the team the opportunity for several new players to learn how to play PERK Baseball as well as mesh with the returning players.  We will focus on playing the game one pitch at a time, which we call our "1-Pitch Panther" approach, understanding that winning is a by-product of doing many little things correctly throughout the game.  We must Control the Controllable by knowing the three things that can be controlled...'attitude, perspective, and effort'.

“So What, Next Pitch”.
