The Perkiomen School employs a full-time Certified Athletic Trainer who manages the overall health and wellness of our student-athletes, as well as providing daily coverage for practices and games.
Requirements for this position include:
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited athletic training program
- Passing a comprehensive exam to earn the ATC credential from the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC)
- Maintaining current knowledge and skills through continuing education
- Adhering to standards of professional practice set by the NATABOC
Certified Athletic Trainers (ATCs) are experts in preventing, recognizing, managing, and rehabilitating injuries that result from physical activity. They collaborate with licensed physicians, and work in cooperation with other health care professionals, athletic administrators, coaches, and parents. In addition, the ATC at Perkiomen is familiar with each individual athlete; therefore, she is able treat injuries effectively and with appropriate efficiency.
