Music

Music at The Perkiomen School is a component of the Fine Arts Department, which also includes Visual Arts and Theater, accessible via the links to the left.

The Perkiomen School affords every student the opportunity to take part in both Orchestra and Chorus for credit, at both the Middle School and Upper School levels. Other non-credit performance ensembles include Middle and Upper School String Ensembles, Jazz Combo, a student-run Show Choir, and Basketball Pep Band. There are frequent solo and small-group performance opportunities throughout the school year in morning meetings, chapel services, a student-directed "Evening of Scenes" performance in spring, the Multicultural Club's annual Talent Show, and other occasions. There are also Musical Theater productions annually at the Upper School, and in some years at the Middle School.

In addition, there is an after-school music program available throughout the school year to students who meet certain criteria. The Fine Arts Department also offers individual and small-group instrumental, vocal, and piano lessons by arrangement with the various instructors.

Participation in the Orchestra or Chorus also qualifies Perk students to audition for PMEA District 11 Band, Orchestra, or Chorus, and in grades 7-9 for participation in the annual PMEA Junior High School SongFest.
