The Perkiomen School-Gymnasium Andreanum Exchange Program 2015-2016
In 2011, The Perkiomen School began a partnership with St. Andrew’s Gymnasium in Hildesheim, Germany, and established a student exchange. This exchange program gives Perkiomen students an opportunity to live in German with host families and to learn about European history and culture.
The Hildesheim Program is tied directly to the Perkiomen curriculum and builds global connections essential to success in our global world. Much like Perkiomen School, St. Andrew’s has a long history. Founded in 1255 St. Andrew’s is located in the historic Bishopric of Hildesheim, which became an important city during the Reformation and— more recently—has proudly dedicated monuments to its Jewish heritage.
Students from Gymnasium Andreanum, Hildesheim, spend two weeks in the United States each fall, 10 days of which are spent visiting and attending The Perkiomen School and seeing some historic places in the area. Perkiomen School students visit Hildesheim during Spring Break for 10 days after touring Germany and Poland. Both schools have dedicated themselves to providing home-stays for up to twenty students.
Please join the Perk community in welcoming the German students from Gymnasium Andreanum. We are currently seeking host families for our guests. Please contact Mr. and Mrs. Hoffmann for more information on hosting and /or joining the program in Germany and Poland during Spring break.
