Perkiomen School’s athletic program continues to make bold moves, showing further dedication to girls athletics by hiring two experienced coaches to take the lead with girls’ lacrosse.

Nicole Meehan was recently named the new Girls Lacrosse Head Coach, along with new Assistant Coach Erin McGuire, creating a strong coaching staff with robust experience and leadership skills.

“In one summer, we added four college level coaches and two All-Americans to our athletics program,” says Head of School Mark A. Devey.  “We are strengthening our community and building a core of outstanding student-athletes. Our school’s size may limit us in some ways, but we can be smaller, yet mighty.”

Meehan comes to Perkiomen after spending five seasons as the head women’s lacrosse coach at Shippensburg University. She has coached 13 Division II Academic Honor Roll student athletes, nine All-Conference players, one two-time All-Region player, as well as the PSAC Athlete of the Year in 2021. This progress on the field was made while her student athletes improved the program’s 2.9 GPA in 2016 to a 3.6 GPA at the end of the 2020 fall semester.

Meehan also served as an assistant coach at York College of Pennsylvania, gaining invaluable experience coaching a perennial Top 10 Division III program.

With a master’s degree in sports management and a minor in athletic administration from California University of Pennsylvania, Meehan also holds a bachelor’s degree in public health from East Stroudsburg University. As a player at ESU, Nicole was a four-year letter winner, received All PSAC 1st Team honors two years in a row, and was voted MVP of the team during her senior campaign. Meehan will also support the work of the Admissions Office as an Associate Director of Admissions & Financial Aid.

“I am very excited to be joining the Perkiomen family,” shared Meehan. “During initial conversations with Perkiomen leadership, I felt the strong family atmosphere and that there was full support for building upon the existing lacrosse program to continue to create an amazing experience for these girls. I am looking forward to taking the girls under my wing as we walk through this journey together.”

Assistant Coach Erin McGuire will partner with Louisy Roest, a dedicated coach who has ably led the girls’ lacrosse team, and alumnae Jordan Barth, who will assist with girls’ lacrosse, basketball and soccer. Barth was a stand-out basketball player at Misericordia University and was named to the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association All-America team.

McGuire also joins the Marketing & Communications Office as the Communications & Sports Information Assistant. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Jacksonville University, and both an MBA and a master’s in marketing from Lindenwood University. In her coaching role, McGuire brings experience as an elite student-athlete.

She was named an All-American in both of her seasons at Lindenwood and won a Division II National Championship in Spring 2021. At Jacksonville University, a Division I program, she was named Second Team All-Conference in the Atlantic Sun Conference.

“Nicole Meehan and Erin McGuire are fantastic additions to Perkiomen,” says Perkiomen’s Director of Lacrosse Operations Mike Kruger.  “Nicole has extensive experience at the college level where she has been successful both as a head coach and as an assistant. But more importantly than her success on the field, she genuinely cares for her players and will be a fantastic mentor for our female student-athletes. She will make an immediate impact on the overall student-athlete experience at Perkiomen. With Erin joining the coaching staff, a recent high-level player who won a national championship just a few months ago, our Girls Lacrosse program is poised for an exciting spring and has an extremely bright future. This is an exciting time for Perkiomen athletics.”
