Student Spotlight: Alex Lafleche '25

“Playing NCAA Lacrosse has always been a lifelong goal, and to be completely honest, a dream,” shares Alex Lafleche ’25. In fall 2023, Alex came to Perkiomen from Ontario to play attack for the Prep Lacrosse Team in pursuit of that goal.

“The people and programs at Perkiomen have supported me from the moment I stepped on campus," says Alex. "Coach Mangan and Coach Kruger made this school feel like home before I even got here, and thanks to their help in the university recruiting process, they helped me to find a home for the next step in my journey.”

Since this was Alex’s first time living away from home, he is grateful to have supportive coaches who quickly became trusted mentors and parental figures. He also enjoys the close relationships he’s formed with his teammates and describes them as being like family.

“In the first week of school, Coach Kruger hosted a pool party for the lacrosse team," says Alex. "Even though I didn’t know many people very well before then, all the returning students were so welcoming. We all became great friends immediately, and our bond has only grown since.”

In 2023- 2024, Alex enjoyed Foundations of Artificial Intelligence with Director of the Artificial Intelligence Institute Allison Rodgers. Some of his favorite topics from the course were coding, video game design, and virtual reality. For his AI capstone, Alex designed an automatic stirrer to craft smoothies and shakes. He says that learning how to code and work with wires has helped him to develop his product. He appreciates the individualized support he’s received throughout the capstone project.

“Even though it can be challenging at times, I’m better for it," says Alex. "Plus, Mrs. Rodgers is always happy to give me advice to help me push through and find a solution.”

In his senior year, Alex is served as a Student Dorm Proctor in Kriebel.

“The proctors I have encountered at Perkiomen have been positive resources on campus, and I wanted to gain skills as a leader beyond the lacrosse field," says Alex.

He also joined the Entrepreneur Institute since he plans to study business and finance in college. He worked with classmates on the Lemon Love Project for his capstone. The project was a social venture developed to support underserved communities in Montgomery County, PA. The team worked together to create and sell lemonade in various flavors, to raise money for their less fortunate neighbors.

He affirms that Perkiomen has prepared him for his future as a student-athlete by teaching him about time management and personal accountability.

“Lacrosse is a year-round sport, so I’ve learned to stay on top of my academics while keeping up with our competition schedule,” says Alex. He will be attending William Jewell College to play DII lacrosse.
