School Break Options
Families have a variety of goals when planning for school breaks. Many seek opportunities to maximize their child's experience through travel, cultural enrichment, and exploration, while also simplifying the logistics of travel and supervision during break periods. For some families, affordability is an important consideration when evaluating break options.
To support these diverse needs, we offer a range of programs during breaks. Options balance rest and relaxation with opportunities for students to experience different regions of the United States, engage in meaningful cultural and educational activities, and build connections with peers.
Homestay Accommodation During School Breaks
For boarding students who require accommodation during school breaks, homestay options are available for an additional fee.
Students may stay with the family of another child enrolled at the school or with a carefully screened and approved host family through one of our trusted third-party homestay providers. Both options offer a safe, welcoming, and supportive home environment where students can enjoy family life, experience local culture, build meaningful connections, and continue developing their confidence and independence while the dormitories are closed.
All homestay placements are subject to host family availability. Fees vary depending on the length of stay and the type of placement. Families interested in arranging homestay accommodation should contact Amber Goupil at agoupil@perkiomen.org well in advance of each break to discuss availability and booking requirements.
Fees:
- Fall Break $1,000 – $1,750
- Winter Break $1,675 – $3,400
- Spring Break $1,575 – $2,800
Interested in Becoming a Host Family?
Hosting a boarding student during a break is a rewarding experience for the whole family. It is an opportunity to share your family’s traditions and daily life while getting to know a student from another culture.
We are always looking to expand our network of caring local families who can provide a welcoming home away from home for our students during school breaks. Trips during breaks
Breaks are a great time to explore American culture and history in ways not possible during a typical weekend trip. There is so much to see and do: reliving history in Colonial Williamsburg, hiking the Shenandoah Mountains, meeting your favorite characters at Disney World, exploring the beaches of North Carolina, getting up close to an alligator, or riding the oldest wooden roller coaster. Each year, the destinations change, allowing students to explore different cities, landmarks, museums, and historical sites across the United States.
These trips provide memorable educational experiences beyond the classroom, encourage cultural appreciation, and help students build lasting friendships through shared adventures.
