Letter from the Head of School June 4, 2021
Dear Perkiomen Community,
This week we closed the 2020-2021 academic year, one of the most unique years I have ever experienced as an educator. While I reflect on our journey together, I am filled with pride having experienced the resilience and determination of our students, faculty, and staff. As I look back, I am also extremely grateful for the courage, patience, and support of our families. Together we made difficult choices, we explored our creativity, and we found academic success and moments of joy despite the limitations.
This is Solvitur Vivendo – our Perkiomen motto – translated to "it is solved through living." We prove time and again that experience is the best teacher and the challenges of life can only be met by digging in, taking part, and pushing through.
Our task force meets regularly and has begun planning for an exceptional educational experience for our students this fall. It is difficult to be precise about the future, because we know state and local guidelines change quickly, however, it is important for families to know the expectations as members of the Perkiomen Community.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we have taken every possible step to safeguard our community's health and safety, from wearing masks to healthy distancing to testing. The addition of the vaccination policy will continue our effort to ensure health and safety for our school community and our visitors and allow us to return to normal school activity to the maximum extent possible.
We ask everyone to recognize that each individual has different experiences, family and medical situations, and feelings as we navigate this process. Some individuals may choose to continue masking.
I pledge that I will stay connected to you this summer and keep you informed at every step of the way. Please look for my next update at the end of June, to coincide with upcoming announcements by the Governor of Pennsylvania.
I wish you moments of relaxation this summer, with opportunities to recharge and reset. Thank you for the important role you play in the Perkiomen School community.
Sincerely, Mark A. Devey Head of School
